Buxton, and others, are perhaps biding their time in order to see what Gray is going to do. The squad, as well as prospective transfer targets know full well what happened at S6 prior to him arriving. They will want him to stay just as much as our supporters. It will be interesting to see what happens. covowl
He is hoping for a better offer.
Careful - you are in danger of criticising the manager!
23 May 2013 09:43:46
Its no good people just thinking of a name and saying we are interested and they are coming to S6, we have to be realistic - we are not going to get top quality players because we cannot afford their wages simple as that, we went down that road before and look at the mess we got into. We do have the basis of a decent squad to build on just look at what 4 more wins last season would have done for us 12 points - and we would have been up with the top teams. If we can keep some of the loan players we have, that would be a good start, if we can add a little more quality and a bit more consistency to our game then maybe we can make other teams sit up and take notice. If we can achieve this I think a challenge for a top 10 spot is certainly realistic. I'm sure DJ and MM have something in mind so let's just hope they are prepared to spend a little to put us on track. UTO eric the owl

doe's anyone know what happened about Lewis Buxton contract one player we can't really afford to loss wardtheowl
Since we seem to be looking at right sided defenders I feel nervous. Other clubs are interested in Buxton - hope he stays with us.
As ever with Wednesday official page nothing! we learn more from the star or other newspapers first, weds only tell us anything when its old news. Ebanks blake supposedly seen at derby ground source sky transfers (your rumours) but maybe not very reliable UTO eric the owl
Don't worry, we try and replace Buxton every year only to find out he's more reliable and better than new guy!
22 May 2013 11:56:35
A lot off these players mentioned are really unrealistic,
Clubs coming down will get players like Carlton cole or even lower premier league times hull an clubs like that,
Cameron jerome will go to top end champ clubs.
And there's so many more!
Would love if we could get these players but I'm realistic an if we keeping prutton an llera we aren't going for good name players be lucky to get lita
22 May 2013 12:58:51
does anyone know what happened with Buxton's contract wardtheowl
22 May 2013 11:08:47
Jerome Thomas out of contract at west brom, would definitely like to see him at Hillsborough, did brilliantly at championship level before
22 May 2013 10:25:08
Chris McCann of burnley released would be a good signing can play across back four or in midfield help strengthen them areas up, also Simeon Jackson would be a good signing for us, let's be honest there isn't going to be a lot of money splashed about on big players, might aswell make most of the free transfers
22 May 2013 10:14:49
Carlton Cole to S6? West Ham not renewing his contract, could be a good signing in the Championship! Ambler195
22 May 2013 10:03:47
What does anyone think of Carlton Cole at Hillsbrough? West Ham aren't renewing his contract. Could bag a few goals in the Championship. Ambler195
Yes he could bag a few but the way we let goals in we need a lot lol UTO eric the owl
He would be worth it if wages could be affordable uto xxx
21 May 2013 21:39:21
I see the blades are down to final 7 for the managers vacancy. Happy, bashful doc dopey sleepy grumpy and sneezy nightowl1867
Which is warnock? uto lol xxx
Dopey . eric the owl
Well he definitely isn't Bashful but is known to be Grompy lol
More like Snow White
21 May 2013 20:19:46
Simeon Jackson is a free agent, surely worth a gamble? Won't cost much and he knows where the back of the net is, and that's what we need!
Even though I'd take a punt and hell get 20 plus a season we won't offer him the wages other clubs will
Overated and will not score that many.
No interest last year in him so forced to let him go for free.
21 May 2013 16:17:56
I will be surprised if we sign a striker who is younger than 30.
30 is yesterdays 20 yr old am 52 and can do somethings better than I was 30 honest lol.
We got ayo
Like take your teeth out?
21 May 2013 12:10:47
Cog hasn't had a fall out with any1 at swfc that's just all lies! he's 1 ov the highest earners at the club so they wanted him out so they could fund 2-3 players cuming in. that's why they want rid now!
21 May 2013 18:15:42
What a load of crap lita must be. On a lot more and that's only 1
20 May 2013 22:53:25
Lol feel better now bkowl
Why? lol uto xxx
20 May 2013 22:50:47
JJ Has a good few months out of the last few seasoms and everybody thinks he's as good as pele some people easy pleased and all this crap bout us sighin this and that well that's rubbish too most players on holidays at the min whn its on the offical website al beleve it am rantin a bit because its people always on about the same players to sighn fr us every season to b fair nobody has a clue who dj and mm eants to sighn yet aslong as its better than some of the rubbish we sighned fr last season bkowl
Ere ere bout time someone spoke the truth bout jj. Does summat special evry blue moon. Starts limpin when when doing nowt. Bring back finney Wilkinson Willie Henderson waddle
20 May 2013 10:13:44
The Star is saying that Jones wants to bring in five "new" faces and they could be Pugh, Olofinjani, Helan, Howard and Lita. If we can't get better than this heaven help us. Last year he brought in mainly young untried players that didn't make it, this time, if this report is true it is mainly old rejects from other clubs. Out of that five only Lita and Helan should be considered.
What really gets me is that DJ claims to be a "builder" but brings in young men only to leave them on the bench, farm them out or call them into his office to tell them they are "in his plans". In the meantime Corry, McCabe and others have to sit and watch older and slower players take precedence on the grounds that they are not themselves yet experienced enough. How are they supposed to gain relevant experience? How old do you have to be to play for Jones' Wednesday?
20 May 2013 13:58:50
no it says they were on loan last season lita maybe helan and pugh I would want then 3 more quality signings
Next seasons budget won't be much bigger than this years so yes it will be another summer of freebies loans and has beens another relegation scrap beckons
We have not got the money and its allright saying these heaven help us we need old heads to help our young players, corry, mcabe and maguire, will be pushing for places be patient.
20 May 2013 17:46:33
Corry is 22, Mayor23 and McCabe 20. It is not as if they are particularly young for football. In fact, Corry is six years older than were Quixall and Finney when they burst into top flight football. There are plenty of players of their age in the Championship.
How much trnsfer activity has taken place at other clubs not much reason is outside Premiership cash in short supply. The anti DJ stance is getting boring, grow up he did well to keep us in division with budget he had. Others would have done worse.
Hes our boss and will be for a while get used to it and stop the tripe posts.
Well the star I read only mentioned olafinjana, and only because he, s bin released by hull. Stop guessin about the others just because we ad em on loan last season. Oh an if it is true bout Norris he can p. s off. Turned us down last season in favour of leeds
. mik

Paddy madden and James Hanson look to be coming to swfc after having great seasons with there clubs
Hanson is a very long way short of the standard required. Surely we are not considering him
After their promotion I don't think Yeovil will want to lose Madden.
JR
Hanson ain't good enough but I think we should definately go for Madden
Alan Hanson or Lawrie madden?
Nahki Wells anyone? LeedsOwl
19 May 2013 14:16:16
if you told me that we were playin yeovil nxt season i'd of thought you'd have meant we were relegated
19 May 2013 12:10:35
I personally think that selling O'Grady and signing Howard is a step down because O'Grady is a far better player than Howard.
Milan wants him out
Keep hearing about MM wanting to be rid of O'Grady. Anyone know if it is true and, if so, why - personal or footballing reasons?
Ideally put them in competition against each other at least they both give you 100% and will create for others
19 May 2013 09:41:08
Lots of speculation about who is signing for us but remember last year? I don't think MM or DJ will tell us anything until deals are done which is probably the right way of doing things. So I believe we are in for a long wait guys, but I do hope we get some quality players in, because as we can all see last year we did lack a bit of quality in some areas. We certainly need a good playmaker in midfield and another striker (preferably one who can score goals at this level) but I'm sure the manager is aware of this I like everybody else am hoping this year MM will spend some money especially after praising the attendances that we had last season, so let's hope for the best - a new season a bit more quality and let's improve and have a crack at the playoffs which I think is the best we can hope for so come MM and DJ let's move on UTO eric the owl
17 May 2013 18:41:02
How long is ebanks blake out for?
Has madine had his court case sorted?
October
Well that's those two questions cleared up
17 May 2013 18:13:13
Kenwyne jones finds a pigs head in his locker.
I know they playing in league 1 but decapitating them and putting them in former weds players lockers is too far.
17 May 2013 18:10:37
I know it's not a rumour and I am a true Wednesday fan but think waddle is bang wrong when he's said that backham isn't in the best 1,000 players of last couple decades.
Opinions?
I, ME an owl but becks could lace liam bradys boots the brand beckham is now boring, as for knighthoods they give em out like confetti what happend to giving knighthoods to inventors etc christ you get one for riding push bikes now.
Liam brady, the best I ever saw the mighty cruyff, dalglish, keegan, messi, best, puskas, mathews, finney, bobby charlton, eusabio, billy wright, compton, the list is endless.
I'd put Beckham in the top 1000 easy. Done a great job at every club he has been to, and for most of his career for England too.
Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore, Pele, Eusebio, Bestie, are probably my all time favourites.
As for Wednesday players. Di Canio Hirsty Waddle Sheridan Nilsson Tommy Craig Gary Bannister Willie Henderson. I could go on.
Beckham? excellent player but there were plenty more of his type around in the seventies; Woodward (dare I say), George McVitie of Carlisle, Ralph Coates, Lorimer, Leighton James. all could strike a ball well and get good crosses in.
My point is, in the seventies Beckham would have been no better than those others. I think he'd get into a British top 100 but not a world one.
JR
PS I fancy us for mid table next season, if we can strengthen down the spine of the team.
Am very very pleased with the quality of players bullen helping develop ayo looks like a mixture of shez and carlton the future looks very blue and white, hope fans don't get on young players backs be patient with em we got some gems am impressed.
Likewise, most of the players from the 70's wouldn't cut in today's footballing climate. The strength, speed and fitness would kill them. Let alone the nutrition and technical and technological aspects of the game.
I think your really just trying to prove that the younger generation couldn't possible know as much about football as you. But that's ok, you just didn't really think it through properly.
Maradona was the greatest for me.
Those names I mentioned were some of the best of their generation.
Beckham is one of the best today.
Yes fitness and dedication levels have been raised, but I still think my comparison's valid.
JR
Know wot u mean but if the top players of the 70's were in todays climate with nutrition etc they'de be even better players. Just as todays top players would sdapt to the old leather bslls if that's all yhry knew. Nothin can ever be proved about the generation gap
I respect your opinion JR, but it's impossible to compare.
I have the same argument with my grandad on a regular basis, no offence intended.
The later generations have seen Zidane, Ronaldo, C. Ronaldo, Romario, Messi, Mattheus, Gazza, Scholes, Beckham, Henry, Bergkamp, V. Basten, Batistuta, Carlos etc etc etc.
They also take some beating, no?
18 May 2013 21:51:46
Just really p***** me off that nobody is talking about the footballer; all this 'transcended football' 'brand beckham' 'ambassador'. First and foremost let's have some respect for one of best players of his generation. (poss the best for England).
All the players mentioned have been superb and there are plenty more to come. As someone said we'll never know how good yesyerday's players would be today.
I've always enjoyed watching Beckham and these days there's no one better at picking out a long pass, a cross, or a shot from distance. And yes, he is a brilliant ambassador. I hope he enjoys his retirement and continues to contribute in some way to English football.
For the benefit of someone who has the impression I've already one foot in the grave, I've not! Yes I am a grandad but I'm still working and I still manage to play 5 a side with younger men!
JR
JR, meant it with the upmost respect.
17 May 2013 16:06:41
I believe we need a goal scoring midfielder and what I've seen Jonny Jackson could fill that role, also I don't think we will be getting Helan as Watford are looking at him and will almost certainly offer higher wages! So I would go for Bristol City's Albert Adomah as he did well in a struggling club and I still think we need a goal scorer and Clayton Donaldson got 20+ in league one so I'd take a gamble on him.
Am I the only person who thought Helan was very limited? In my opinion on the whole he was a hapless runner who never had the ball under control and lacked strength. The positive was that he sat in and allowed Reda to get forward and always gave his all. He did have a good game against Boro but more often than not he gave possession away cheaply, Millwall away springs to mind. I am Sure I will get slated for this post but it would be nice to hear some constructive feedback.
I agree wiv u m8. His ball control is poor. He seems very unco-ordinated when running. On the positive side he is still learning. I think in this day an age players are accepted too easily as bein " stars ". He wouldn't Av got in our reserve side in the early 60's. Still like I said he's still learning mik

Wolves will not offer new deals to out-of-contract Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Stephen Hunt and Christophe Berra following relegation to League One - Any of these worth a punt?
Def not worth a punt relegated 2 seasons in a row
17 May 2013 14:45:45
Ebanks Blake hunt and beers released by wolves. Might be worth a look.
Wunt mind the beers!
I'll take beers please.
17 May 2013 14:28:15
Jay Simpson been released from hull, think he would be a great signing on a free as well!
17 May 2013 13:22:44
sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Stephen Hunt and Christophe Berra have been released by Wolves following the club's slide into League One.
The quartet are not expected to be the only departures, though, with several of the club's more high-profile names expected to leave Molineux this summer, including the likes of Kevin Doyle, Roger Johnson and Bakary Sako.
interesting information for players linked to s6 like seb or johnson look at doyle or sako maybe? uto xxxx
16 May 2013 22:52:52
Hope we don't sign taylor fletcher he's older than club
Well that seems to be djs mandate jus look at the new contracts he's offered out four of them are over 30 and past hell be signing Howard and olafinjana too a team of pensioners
To many negative comments, if it wasnt for JJ's good run we would be playing the Pigs in league 1 next season! Get behind the boys
Free transfers end of some loan players to come in get fit for other clubs or try young players out.
16 May 2013 21:26:28
What players have left and who have signed new contracts
We're hoping todos remakeofdads army
16 May 2013 20:07:33
Simon Davies of Fulham has been told by Martin Jol that he is free to leave this summer, Having struggled to cement first team football in the Premiership the ageing Midfielder will be looking to ply his trade a tier below. The Championship provides a competitive edge in which the talented Midfield man could renew and kick start his career, albeit with the right club.
Worth a punt?
